Orange County, California Clears Large Homeless Encampment

After successfully clearing a large homeless encampment of more than 400 people from the Santa Ana River Trail (SART) and the riverbed flood control channel in Orange County, California, the county has contracted with a security firm to enforce a curfew along the channel. The county launched a county-wide effort in the summer of 2017 to clear the encampment by providing increased law enforcement presence and case management via a contract with CityNet, to help connect the individuals with services that could lead to permanent supportive housing.
