Orange County California To Open First Year-Round Emergency Shelter; Contract Awarded To Mercy House
On May 5, 2017, Orange County, California opened its first year-round emergency shelter; the shelter is operated by Mercy House. The new Orange County Year Round Emergency Shelter and Multi-Service Center in Anaheim will be staffed seven days a week, 24 hours a day. It houses 100 at the moment; when it is fully operational later this year, it will have places for 200, with an emphasis on single adults. People will be required to make a reservation for one of the beds. The length of stay is expected to last between 60 to 90 days.
