About one-fifth of families with a worker earning $16 per hour or less in 2016 used one or more of five federally funded social safety net programs: Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC).
