Number Of Children In Foster Care Drops 0.8% From 2017 To 2018

The number of children in foster care dropped about 0.8% from 2017 to 2018 according to data reported to the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) for 2018. The share of children in foster care declined from 441,071 in 2017 to 437,283 in 2018. The number of children entering foster care decreased about 2.6%, from 269,799 in 2017 to 262,956 in 2018.
