New York Medicaid Announces New Community-Based Mental Health Services For Children & Youth
On January 1, 2019, the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) launched new Medicaid community-based mental health services for children under age 21. The new services, called Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS), include "Psychosocial Rehabilitation," and "Community Psychiatric Supports and Treatment." In addition, a category of services called "Other Licensed Practitioner," will be covered that includes counseling provided at home, school, and community-based settings. The services provide child-centered and family-focused therapeutic and rehabilitation support services using a multi-system and culturally competent approach.
