New York City Launches Thrive NYC Mental Health Redesign With $1 Billion Budget & Phased Rollout
On November 16, 2015, New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio launched Thrive NYC, an initiative funded at nearly $1 billion, to redesign the city’s public mental health system. A phased rollout is planned, and many of the specific near-term program improvements in Thrive NYC were announced earlier in 2015 while the Mayor’s office and stakeholders were finalizing the plans for Thrive NYC. Thrive NYC includes new policies, increased funding, and performance targets for improving the city’s approach to preventing and treating mental health disorders.
