Nebraska Medicaid Demonstration To Allow Addiction Treatment In IMDs For More Than 15 Days
On June 28, 2019, the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Nebraska’s waiver application for a Medicaid addiction treatment demonstration program that will reimburse for residential or inpatient treatment for more than 15 days provided by a facility which is considered an institution of mental disease (IMD). The waiver approval permits Nebraska to continue funding addiction treatment for Medicaid beneficiaries ages 19 to 64 in an IMD setting as an “in lieu of” service.
