New Medicaid Quality Measures Focus On Monitoring Opioids, Diabetes, & Antipsychotics
In December 2015, the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) added new Medicaid quality measures focused on monitoring opioids prescribed to adults, diabetes screening for adults taking antipsychotics, and the use of multiple antipsychotics by children. For 2016, the Adult Core Set of quality measures now includes a requirement to monitor the use of opioid pain relievers prescribed in high doses by multiple prescribers to adults not diagnosed with cancer. The Adult Core Set also includes a new measure focused on ensuring delivery of diabetes screenings for adults diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder and taking antipsychotics. For . . .
