New Jersey Enacts New Oversight Regulations For Dementia Care Group Homes

On November 9, 2015, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed legislation to enact new regulations for dementia-care group homes, which are currently regulated as boarding homes by the Department of Community Affairs. This means that the dementia care group homes are not subject to the same scrutiny as other health care facilities that are regulated by the New Jersey Department of Health. Under the new approach, the Department of Health will regulate dementia care homes as health care facilities. The law goes into effect in June 2016.
