New Hope Family Services Sues New York Over Child Placement With Same-Sex Couples
On December 6, 2018, New Hope Family Services (New Hope), a faith-based adoption provider organization, sued the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) over the state’s ultimatum that New Hope agree to work with foster and adoptive parents who, according to New Hope’s statement of faith, do not meet the definition of parents such as same-sex couples. A hearing is scheduled for February 19, 2019. A trial date has not been set.
