New Florida Law Sets Child Welfare Case Oversight Requirements For Judges & Law Enforcement, More Focus On Responding To Brain Injury In Young Children
On July 1, 2020, the state of Florida implemented a law that sets new child welfare case oversight requirements for judges responsible for dependency cases and for law enforcement. The law requires the Child Protection Teams within the Department of Health to train child welfare professionals, circuit and county judges who have responsibility for dependency cases, Guardian ad Litem program staff, and law enforcement officers on responding to head trauma and brain injury to children under age six.
