Nevada Medicaid To Launch Community Paramedicine Services

On August 22, 2016, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced that the federal Medicaid program had approved a state plan amendment to cover Community Paramedicine services. The state plans to use emergency medical services (EMS) provider organizations in an expanded role to provide primary care, preventive care, and wellness interventions. The state anticipates that this new service will improve consumer outcomes and reduce Medicaid expenditures by avoiding unnecessary ambulance responses, emergency room visits, and hospital admission.

The Community Paramedicine services include evaluation/health assessments, chronic disease prevention, monitoring and education, medication compliance, and immunizations and vaccinations . . .
