Nebraska's ratio of 8.8 psychiatrists to 100,000 state residents is 41% lower than the national estimate of 12.4 psychiatrists to 100,000 state residents. Nebraska's psychiatrist workforce ratio has held steady at 8.8 per 100,000 from 2003 through 2010. In rural areas of the state, the ratio was 4.0 psychiatrists per 100,000 state residents; in urban areas the ratio was 12.0 psychiatrists per 100,000.
