Nearly Two-Thirds Of Oregon Preschoolers Experiencing Disabilities Did Not Receive Adequate Early Intervention Services
Nearly two-thirds of Oregon children under age three with disabilities did not receive an adequate level of Early Intervention (EI) educational services from 2018 to 2019. About 33.4% did receive an adequate level of services during this period. For children eligible for Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) services (for age 3 to Kindergarten), about 61.6% of those with low needs, 6.2% of those with moderate needs, and 0.7% of those with high needs received an adequate level of services. Older children who enter the school system may not have their ongoing needs met.
