Six months after attending abstinence-based addiction treatment, 35.6% of more than 1,400 consumers reported that they had been abstinent for the past 30 days. The 35.6% includes consumers who reported an earlier relapse but current abstinence (7.9%) and continuously abstinent consumers (27.7%). About 8.5% said they were not abstinent in the past 30 days; of this group, two-thirds reported using at a lower frequency than before entering treatment. Of the remaining consumers, 0.5% had died, 0.2% were in jail, and the recent abstinence status of 2.4% was unknown. About . . .
