More Than A Third Of People Who Completed Abstinence-Based Addiction Treatment Remained Abstinent For Six Months

Six months after attending abstinence-based addiction treatment, 35.6% of more than 1,400 consumers reported that they had been abstinent for the past 30 days. The 35.6% includes consumers who reported an earlier relapse but current abstinence (7.9%) and continuously abstinent consumers (27.7%). About 8.5% said they were not abstinent in the past 30 days; of this group, two-thirds reported using at a lower frequency than before entering treatment.
