Missouri Sued For Overusing Psychotropic Drugs For Children In Foster Care
On June 12, 2017, child welfare advocates sued the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS), and the DSS Children's Division for violating the civil rights of children in foster care by failing to provide adequate oversight of psychotropic medication use. Attorneys for the plaintiffs seek class-action status for all children in state custody, and children at risk of entering foster care.
