Missouri Launches ‘Technology First’ Approach For People With I/DD
On February 14, 2018, the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) announced that Missouri is becoming a Technology First state. DMH has Medicaid waivers that have allowed the authorization of low- to high-level assistive technology and remote supports for several years, however utilization of these services has been sparse. Becoming a Technology First state means that Missouri will focus on evaluating and implementing technology related solutions when they make sense with an outcome of improving the quality of life for individuals.
