On November 21, 2018, the Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM) awarded contracts for administering the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) to incumbent UnitedHealthcare Community Plan and new bidder Molina Healthcare. Incumbent Magnolia Health Plan (Centene) also submitted a request for qualifications but was not selected. The contracts are statewide. The initial term begins on July 1, 2019 and runs through January 31, 2022; and may have up to two one-year extensions. Mississippi considers it CHIP and Medicaid program to be separate and procures health plans for each program separately.
