Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Therapy Decreases PTSD Symptom Severity Among Veterans
Veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who received mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy showed greater improvement in self-reported PTSD symptom severity compared to veterans who received present-centered group therapy. Mindfulness-based stress reduction is an intervention that teaches individuals to attend to the present moment in a non-judgmental, accepting manner. Present-centered group therapy is a control treatment focused on current life problems. Two months after completing the interventions, about 49% of participants in the mindfulness group and 28% of those in the present person-centered group had clinically significant improvement in self-reported PTSD symptom . . .
