Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division To Contract Hospital Care With Universal Health Services
On September 26, 2018, the Milwaukee County Mental Health Board voted to approve the Behavioral Health Division (BHD) contract with Universal Health Services (UHS) to provide inpatient psychiatric care in a new 120-bed hospital that would open in 2021. The new hospital will allow the county to close its aging Mental Health Complex. The county’s estimated contract cost is about $5 million per year to cover the costs of uninsured individuals.
