Michigan’s Automated Unemployment Claims System Wrongly Accused At Least 20,000 Of Fraud

Michigan’s automated unemployment claims review system, the Michigan Integrated Data Automated System (MiDAS), wrongly accused at least 20,000 people of fraud between October 2013 and August 2015. A review by the state auditor in February 2016 found that MiDAS had a 92% error rate; fraud was affirmed in only 8% of appeals.
