Michigan Mid-State Health Network Launches As Regional Specialty PIHP
On January 1, 2014, the new Michigan Mid-State Health Network, a Medicaid behavioral health managed care organization (MCO) launched operations as a regional public mental health specialty prepaid inpatient health plan (PIHP). The Mid-State Health Network formed in 2013 in response to a 2012 state law requiring the Michigan Department of Community Health (DCH) to reduce the number of behavioral health PIHPs from 18 to 10 by January 1, 2014.
