Michigan Budget Revision Lays Out Path To Restructure Behavioral Health
In early June 2016, a mental health restructuring workgroup formed by Michigan Lt. Governor Brian Calley legislature presented a budget revision that creates a path for restructuring the state's public behavioral health services. The revision includes language preventing the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) from making unilateral changes to how behavioral health is funded. The legislature will discuss the budget and the revision after the summer recess. Michigan’s budget year begins on October 1.
