The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is finalizing proposals to pay for two newly defined Medicare physicians’ services furnished using communication technology. CMS developed new codes for virtual check ins (brief communication technology-based services), and remote evaluation of “store and forward” recorded video and/or images submitted by an established consumer. Virtual check ins are billed with HCPCS code G2012; and remote evaluation of recorded images or video will be billed using HCPCS code G2010.
