Medicare Expands Hospital Reimbursement for 24 New Treatment Technologies
Medicare will now be providing reimbursement to hospitals for the use of 24 new treatment technologies, under a provision in the final rule for the Medicare acute and long-term care hospital prospective payment systems (PPS) for fiscal year (FY) 2021. The hospital PPS final rule, effective October 1, 2020, authorized new technology add-on payments (NTAP) for 13 new technologies, and continued NTAP for 10 technologies approved for FY 2020.
