Medicare Delays Expansion, Implementation Of Bundled Payment Programs
On March 21, 2017, Medicare released an interim final rule delaying expansion and implementation of the bundled payment programs for cardiac care and for joint replacements. The cardiac care model was announced in late 2016; it created bundles for cardiac rehabilitation, heart attack, or undergo heart surgery. The cardiac care model was slated to begin on July 1, 2017 and run through 2021. The interim final rule delays the effective date until October 1, 2017.
