Specialist physicians working full-time in non-academic private hospital systems have median annual compensation up to $123,000 higher than physicians working in academic settings. Median annual compensation for full-time primary care physicians working in non-academic settings is about $57,000 higher than for those working in academic settings. Median annual compensation for full-time non-physician clinical professionals is about $878 lower for those working in non-academic settings compared to those working in academic settings.
