Massachusetts Community-Based Flexible Supports Service Model Not Successful In Improving Employment Rates
Employment outcomes for clients participating in the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) Community-Based Flexible Supports (CBFS) service model have declined since the DMH began monitoring the program in 2011. Key goals for CBFS included increasing employment rates by one percent annually from the baseline of 12% in 2011; as well as improvement in health outcomes related to physical activity, addiction treatment, and smoking cessation; increasing the percentage living in community settings rather than group living environments; and reducing psychiatric hospital admissions and incarceration rates.
