Maine Medicaid To Cover Youth Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility Setting
On May 2, 2018, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) released proposed rules to submit a Medicaid state plan amendment to create a new section of policy to reimburse for services provided in psychiatric residential treatment facilities (PRTF). The goal is to create a specialized Medicaid-eligible residential behavioral health setting for youth under age 21. The PRTF setting would provide psychiatric and intensive mental health services in a secure facility that is not in a hospital.
