Los Angeles To Provide 6,700 New Shelter Beds To Clear Homeless Camps Near Freeways
On June 18, 2020, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said the city will provide 6,700 new shelter beds to clear homeless camps near freeways. The city will create 6,000 new beds over the next 10 months, which will augment 700 beds that were already planned to be built over the next 18 months. Los Angeles County will provide $300 million to fund essential supportive services at the new facilities over a five-year period.
