Los Angeles County Reports Homelessness Up 23% In 2017
The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) reports that homelessness in Los Angeles County, California rose 23% between 2016 and 2017. In 2016, its point-in-time count of homeless individuals identified 46,874 homeless individuals; the 2017 count identified 57,794 people, a 23% increase. The proportion of chronically homeless individuals increased by 20%, from 14,644 in 2016 to 17,531 in 2017.
