Los Angeles County Agrees To Provide Discharge Services For All Offenders With Cognitive Conditions
On December 6, 2018, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) and the County amended a settlement agreement in which the LASD and the County agreed to provide all newly discharged offenders with mental illness or dementia with discharge services that include a release plan, a 14-day supply of medication and connections to services. Previously, discharged services were provided to offenders with mental illness jailed for more than seven days.
