Kentucky To Close Eastern State Hospital Long-Term Care Unit
On May 22, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) announced plans to close the Eastern State Hospital Long-Term Care Facility due to state budget constraints. The facility currently serves 14 residents with acquired brain injuries or geriatric residents with long-term care needs. The state anticipates that closing the facility will save $2 million and will allow a more efficient use of resources to support the behavioral health system and provide quality care.
