Kentucky Granted Medicaid Waiver With Cost-Sharing & Work Requirements
On January 12, 2018, the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) granted five-year approval for Kentucky’s Medicaid waiver amendment for its alternative benefit plan to impose community-engagement requirements on able-bodied beneficiaries between age 19 and 64. Starting July 1, 2018, non-exempt beneficiaries will need to complete qualifying activities for at least 20 hours per week to maintain Medicaid eligibility, such as employment, volunteering, caretaking, job training, and/or education.
