Kentucky Department Of Corrections Launches SOAR Recovery Aftercare Program
On August 14, 2019, the Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC) announced the launch of the Supporting Others in Active Recovery (SOAR) aftercare program for inmates in recovery. SOAR offers a new system of support, mentoring, and peer accountability for offenders in recovery from addiction. The program focuses on relapse prevention, education, and reentry skills based on the Therapeutic Community Model—a group-based, residential approach to treating addiction.
