Juvenile Delinquency Caseloads At Lowest Level Since 2005
Juvenile delinquency caseloads during 2017 were at or near their lowest levels since 2005. Drug-related caseloads dropped by 50%, from about 200,000 in 2005 to about 100,000 in 2017. Person offenses (assaults) dropped by more than 50%, from about 450,000 in 2005 to about 250,000 in 2017. Public order offenses dropped by more than 50%, from about 450,000 in 2005 to about 200,000 in 2017. Property offenses dropped by more than 50%, from about 600,000 in 2005 to about 275,000 in 2017.
