Informal Caregivers For Older Adults Likely To Experience Emotional, Physical & Financial Difficulties
Informal caregivers—family and friends—who help older adults with health care activities are more likely to experience emotional, physical, and financial difficulties than informal caregivers who do not assist with health care activities. There are an estimated 14.7 million caregivers assisting 7.7 million older adults. About 44.1% of caregivers provide substantial help with helping the care recipient coordinate medical care or manage medications; nearly half of these caregivers were helping someone with dementia.
