Indian Health Service Announces New Policy To Expand MAT For Opioid Treatment In Remote Locations
On November 1, 2018, the Indian Health Service (IHS) announced the release of a new Internet Eligible Controlled Substance Provider Designation policy that is designed to increase access to buprenorphine, a medication assisted treatment (MAT) for American Indians and Alaska Natives with opioid use disorder living in rural or remote areas. The new policy will allow more medication prescriptions over the Internet.
