Incoming Kansas Governor Halts Implementation Of New Foster Care & Preventive Services Grants
On January 3, 2019, new Kansas Governor Laura Kelly halted the Department for Children and Families (DCF) implementation of the new foster care and preventive services grants awarded on November 1, 2018. The governor seeks time for her administration to review DCF’s use of grants, rather than a competitive procurement to select the grantees. There is no timeline by which the review must be completed. Governor Kelly named Laura Howard as acting DCF secretary.
