About 20% of children hospitalized for TBI never return for outpatient follow-up treatment. Of those that do return for outpatient follow-up, 27% miss appointments. Privately insured children had higher odds of full adherence with follow-up care than children covered by Medicaid or uninsured children. These findings were reported in “Follow-Up Care Adherence After Hospital Discharge in Children With Traumatic Brain Injury” by Alexandra, J. Spaw, B.S.; Jennifer P. Lundine, Ph.D., CCC-SLP; Sarah A.
