New Hampshire, Massachusetts & Iowa Rank Highest In The 2019 Ranking For Child Well-Being; Mississippi, Louisiana & New Mexico Rank Lowest
In 2019, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Iowa were ranked the highest in a state-to-state comparison of overall child well-being. In the same ranking, Mississippi, Louisiana, and New Mexico were ranked the lowest. Although they are not ranked against states, children in the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico experienced some of the worst child outcomes on many of the indicators for the rankings. Overall child well-being is based on an index of 16 indicators: four in each general domain of economic well-being, education, health, and family and community.
