On January 1, 2018, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) launched the state’s newly redesigned statewide mandatory Medicaid managed care program, HealthChoice Illinois. The managed care program redesign reduced the number of Medicaid managed care plans operating in the state from 12 to 7, and consolidated the state’s three managed care programs into one program.
