Illinois Medicaid Mandatory Auto-Enrollment Launches July 1, 2014

In July 2014, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) began assigning Medicaid beneficiaries and All Kids beneficiaries to managed care entity (MCE) health plans in five mandatory managed care regions: Rockford, Central Illinois, Metro East, Quad Cities, and Greater Chicago (which includes Cook County and five surrounding counties). The goal is to enroll half of all Illinois Medicaid beneficiaries into managed care coordination by January 1, 2015, as required by a 2011 state law.
