Illinois To Expand Medicaid Managed Care To New Populations

On April 7, 2017, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) notified provider organizations that beginning January 1, 2018, the state’s latest Medicaid managed care contracts will expand managed care to every county and to previously excluded populations. These populations include special needs children and children under the care of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). With this expansion, the state anticipates increasing the percentage of Medicaid beneficiaries enrolled in managed care from the current 65% to 80%.
