Illegal Drug Use In U.S. Rises From 9.4% In 2013, To 10.2% In 2014

Between 2013 and 2014, the percentage of the United States population age 12 and older using illegal drugs increased, rising from 9.4% in 2013 to 10.2% in 2014. During 2014, an estimated 27.0 million people age 12 and older used an illegal drug. About 8.1% (21.5 million) of people age 12 and older in 2014 had a substance use disorder, including 17.0 million with an alcohol use disorder, 7.1 million with an illicit drug use disorder, and 2.6 million with co-occurring alcohol and illicit drug use disorders.
