Feds Release Proposed Rules For Stage 3 Meaningful Use
On March 20, 2015, the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released proposed rules for Stage 3 of the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Meaningful Use Program. The Meaningful Use Stage 3 proposed rule, issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), specifies two sets of new criteria: one for eligible professionals (EP), eligible hospitals (EH), and critical access hospitals (CAH) that seek to qualify for Medicaid EHR incentive payments; and the other for EPs, EHs, and CAHs to meet to avoid Medicare performance-based payment reductions set to start in 2018.
