HHS Finalizes Hospital Price Transparency Rules & Proposes That Insurers Share Network Prices
On November 1, 2019, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) finalized hospital price transparency rules and proposed that insurers share network prices. The final rule establishes requirements for hospitals operating in the U.S. to establish, update, and make public a list of their standard charges for the items and services that they provide, effective January 1, 2021. The proposed rule would require insurers to share network prices by publishing negotiated rates on a public website.
