Rewarding consumers for adopting healthier habits is a new tool Individual Marketplace Health plans will have in their health care cost cutting arsenal in the 10 states ultimately chosen to participate in a demonstration project that allows them to implement health-contingent wellness programs. On September 30, 2019, the Center for Consumer Information & Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) opened applications for states to participate in a demonstration project for their individual marketplace plans that would allow the plans to implement health-contingent wellness programs.
