Heroin Use In The United States Rose Between 2002 & 2018
Between 2002 and 2018, the prevalence of adult heroin use, among those aged 18 and older, increased from 0.17% to 0.32%. The prevalence of heroin injection continuously increased from 0.09% in 2002 to 0.17% in 2018. The prevalence of heroin use disorder increased from 0.10% in 2002 to 0.21% in 2018. Heroin use disorder is defined as a problematic pattern of heroin use, leading to clinically significant impairment or distress.
